Frequently Asked Questions

Egg Donor

A: Once you have matched, My Donor Connection will perform a background check on your donor. We will also require copies of driver’s license, and high school & college transcripts and will verify testing scores and GPA.

A: Yes! My Donor Connection will arrange for local monitoring appointments at an IVF clinic that is convenient for the donor. We will also handle travel arrangements for her visit(s) to your Fertility Clinic.

A: It is always smart to have a backup donor in mind. Your donor will undergo Genetic & Infectious disease testing along with a psychological evaluation. During that process, your donor may be disqualified from moving forward with the donation.

A: My Donor Connection only requires a deposit to proceed with your donor. The remainder of the program fees are due after Medical / Psychological screening has been conducted and approved by your Fertility Clinic. If the cycle is canceled after medical screening but prior to retrieval, all funds on file with My Donor Connection are fully transferable to another donor within our agency.

A: It is difficult to predict how many donors will be added each week since we focus heavily on quality instead of quantity. Our goal is not to have the largest donor database: it is to have the highest quality donors. If you do not find what you are looking for, we will happily send you updates when a new donor joins our network.

A: The process from start to finish varies slightly depending on the screening protocol set forth by your clinic. On average, a donor cycle takes anywhere from 2-4 months. The screening process is actually the most time-consuming, as the actual cycle only takes 3-4 weeks.

Surrogate

A: Our Surrogates have completed an initial questionnaire to determine eligibility. They must meet both ASRM and your clinic guidelines. Our team obtains copies of their medical records from prior pregnancies and deliveries to share with your Reproductive Endocrinologist for approval prior to the match. Before moving to legal agreements, she will have psychological and medical screening along with background checks completed on the Surrogate and any adult over the age of 18 that lives in her household.

A: Laws vary from state to state. We present you with candidates that live in a surrogacy friendly state where you can be established as the parent in a pre or post birth order.

A: Prior to confirming your match, the surrogate medical records will be presented to your IVF clinic for approval. If your surrogate is medically disqualified during the screening process, our team will work to rematch you with another surrogate at no additional cost.

A: My Donor Connection fees are due at different milestones throughout your journey. Agency fees are non refundable; however, we offer unlimited re-matching if your surrogate is not medically cleared to proceed.

A: In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate’s eggs are used so she will have a biological link to the baby.  In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate is implanted with embryos that were created with the intended mother or egg donors eggs. The surrogate has no biological link to the baby. At My Donor Connection, we only facilitate Gestational Surrogacy journeys.

A: The timeline for finding your surrogate can vary depending on your criteria. We are currently able to match within 8-12 weeks. Once a match has been identified, the process can take anywhere from 3-6 months to move through medical clearance, legal clearance and medical protocol leading up to the embryo transfer.
