Surrogates

How to Become a Surrogate | Requirements, Process, and FAQs

If you love being pregnant and are excited to help someone experience the joy of parenthood, we want to hear from you! Being a Surrogate is an incredible way to make a difference in someone’s life, and we’d love to help you on your journey.

Considering

Surrogacy?

Wondering if Surrogacy is right for you? One of the most important things we look for in our Surrogates is a genuine desire to help others. We need responsible and mature Surrogates who can make doctor appointments, follow medication instructions, and understand and accept the risks of pregnancy – both physical and emotional. But don’t worry – we’re here to support you every step of the way!

If you become a Surrogate, you’ll be embarking on one of the most amazing journeys of your life while helping someone achieve their dream of becoming a parent. And don’t forget, throughout the entire process, our team and the intended parent(s) will be here to support you.

We can’t wait to join you on this incredible journey!

What will my

Journey look like?

The first step is to complete our online application. A member of our team will contact you to set up an interview and go over your qualifications. We will go over the entire process and answer any questions you may have. If you are ready to proceed, we will assist you in creating a profile that will be presented to couples who are looking for their perfect match. We will also work with you to obtain copies of your medical records and your insurance policy. Once selected, you will be able to view a profile of the Intended Parents to see if you think they might be a good fit for you as well.

Once a potential match has been identified, we will set up a time for you to speak and/or meet in person after we have completed a background check on all parties.

We put a lot of effort into finding the right match the first time. There are many different factors that go into the matching process and we hope to connect you with a family that shares your vision of the pregnancy.

Once a match is confirmed, we prepare the groundwork of your cycle by signing agency service agreements, contacting legal representation in regards to drafting an agreement between you and the intended parents (an attorney will be provided for you), and establishing an escrow account which will hold all anticipated funds for your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: We work with intended parent(s) who are choosing Surrogacy as a way to build their family. We work with hopeful parents that have struggled with infertility, are single, are in a same-sex relationship  or have a health concern that prevents them from safely carrying their child.

A: In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate’s eggs are used so she will have a biological link to the baby.  In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate is implanted with embryos that were created with the intended mother or egg donors eggs. The surrogate has no biological link to the baby. At My Donor Connection, we only facilitate Gestational Surrogacy journeys.

A: The majority of surrogacy journeys will require travel to the intended parents’ clinic on two separate occasions: first for the medical screening and again for the embryo transfer. If you are unable to travel, we can try to find a match that is local to you.

A: This depends on your comfort level. Most intended parents and surrogates enjoy regular communication throughout the pregnancy. If you have a specific request around communication during or after delivery, we will keep your preferences in mind when finding a potential match. While each relationship develops naturally, it is important that all parties are on the same page from the start.

A: Our team will interview both the surrogate and intended parent(s) to understand their preferences on the surrogacy: how many embryos will be transferred, thoughts on reduction/ termination, communication throughout pregnancy, etc. When we have an intended parent that shares your philosophies, you will have a chance to review the Intended Parents profile and have a video match call to help you determine if this feels like the right fit for your journey.

A: There are a few different stages to your journey. The initial application stage can take several weeks as we complete your online application and obtain your prior medical records. Once we have a potential match, the medical screening and legal process can easily take 2-3 months before you are cleared for embryo transfer. Most journeys take approximately 14-18 months.
